ABOUT NORMA VARGUS
Never one to let the grass grow beneath her feet, Norma embodies a spirit of lifelong learning and adventure. Even in her newly minted retirement, while others may slow down, she’s just hitting her stride—pursuing growth, exploration, and creative expression with renewed vigor.
Trained in voiceover, improvisation, stage and film acting, and audiobook narration, Norma honed her craft at prestigious institutions including the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Washington, DC, The Little Theater of Alexandria in Virginia, and the Actor’s Connection in New York City.
Her highly lauded and exhilarative experiences as a combat soldier, Army officer, and peace officer have given her a deep appreciation for thrillers, historical fiction, mysteries, and nonfiction—and a rich well of life experience to draw from in her performances. With a master’s degree in education and years of teaching students from elementary to college level, she brings insight, warmth, and authenticity to children’s and young adult literature.
A passionate traveler, Norma delights in learning new languages and cultures—she speaks conversational Spanish and can offer a phrase or two in a variety of languages. Her vocal range is equally versatile, spanning from gently nurturing to sternly authoritative, and she is adept at both British and American Southern accents.
Norma divides her time between the bustling energy of New York and the tranquil serenity of Hawaii. She enjoys biking, pickleball, poetry, singing, trivia, language learning, movies, connecting with new people, and—of course—listening to audiobooks.
Whether bringing a story to life or diving into a new challenge, Norma is confident, competent, inventive, and endlessly curious.
